Mt. Hood Brewing Co. is Growing!

Mt. Hood Brewing Co. (MHBC) is pleased to announce that construction is underway on its brewery expansion in Government Camp, Oregon, adjacent to the existing brewery and brewpub. With the walls, roof, and siding in place, Bremik Construction is actively working on the building’s interior while snow falls outside. MHBC looks forward to moving into the new space in late spring or early summer, and offering brewery tours and tastings through the Mt. Hood Brewing Co. brewpub.

Currently, MHBC produces about 1200 barrels per year. With the addition of two fermentation tanks, brite beer tanks, dry and cold storage, MHBC will be doubling production. Cold and packaged beer storage plus a new packaging area will enable MHBC to offer a greater variety of seasonal ales in bottle, including barrel-aged beers, and more canned craft beers utilizing a canning machine recently purchased for the expansion.

Most of MHBC’s current production is sold onsite at its two locations, Government Camp and Tilikum Station in Portland, as well as at Timberline Lodge’s seven food outlets. Increasing production to about 2500 barrels per year keeps MHBC in the small craft brewery category but will allow MHBC to place its craft beers in more bottle shops and pubs. The brewery expansion includes an easily accessible loading dock that will effectively and efficiently fulfill those orders.

Mt. Hood Brewing Co. was established in 1991 in the alpine village of Government Camp, OR, at the base of Mt. Hood. In October 1992, the newly constructed ten-barrel brewery rolled out its first barrel. Since then, MHBC’s distinctive ales have been produced by the union of pure Mt. Hood glacial water, Northwest barley and hops, and the inspiration of its brewers. R.L.K. and Company, operators of Mt. Hood Brewing Co. and Timberline Lodge, appointed Bryan Borgmeier as Head Brewer in fall 2016. Jeff McAllester has been a brewer at MHBC since 2002.
